Peel reaffirms commitment to deliver Hulton Park Investment

Peel Land has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering on the proposed investment at Hulton Park in Bolton, Greater Manchester. The vision for Hulton Park will deliver the restoration of the listed park for public benefit, create an iconic sporting venue and cultural destination benefitting the entire region, and modernising critical infrastructure and community facilities, including importantly the Park Avenue Link Road which forms a key part of the wider Wigan-Bolton Growth Corridor link between the M61 and M6.

With the support of Bolton Council and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, the plans are now embedded in the long-term growth strategy for the area, through the Places for Everyone plan and the Wigan-Bolton Growth Corridor. The site is a shortlisted candidate venue to bring the Ryder Cup back to England for the first time since 2002, and stands out as an entirely new venue that will deliver a major economic impact with a lasting legacy, contributing to the Government’s industrial strategy and delivering significant growth to Bolton.

Work is progressing between public and private sector partners to ensure the investment, funding and infrastructure needed to deliver the project are aligned, with further announcements expected through 2025. To ensure progress continues to be made, Peel is proposing to commence with the investment by implementing some limited works at the site prior to the expiry of the current planning permission in October 2025. These limited works will upgrade the current access track into the Park for the benefit of current tenants whilst ensuring the implementation of the wider development in the future is preserved.

Initial applications to enable these works have been submitted to Bolton Council following a review of options and discussions between the Council and Peel Land over how to ensure the investment can be secured. They will be determined in early 2025. These works will not change the proposed plans but will ensure continued progress to unlock this transformational investment.

A spokesperson for Peel Land said:

“This is a transformational opportunity for Bolton – not only as a sporting venue and cultural destination but as a catalyst for long-term economic growth, job creation and investment. Our commitment to delivering the benefits of this project remains as strong as ever. The works proposed are a critical step in safeguarding the momentum we’ve built together with our public and private sector partners to unlock this major investment. It ensures that we can continue in confidence, working collaboratively to make Bolton a global sporting and cultural destination.”
