Plans to restore historic Hulton Park and bring championship golf to Bolton
Peel Land and Property, has announced a major new investment with exciting plans to restore the historic Hulton Park Estate in Bolton.
Peel’s initial proposals include the restoration of Hulton Park through the creation of a championship golf course and resort that will be capable of hosting major tournaments. The project is designed with the specific objective of delivering the largest and most prestigious of golf events and tournaments.
In addition to the golf course and clubhouse, the proposals include a golf training academy, a new hotel on the site of the former Hulton Hall, the restoration of lost gardens, lakes and pleasure grounds, a community trail and new homes.
The plans will deliver significant local benefits to Bolton and Greater Manchester, including the restoration of a degraded heritage park, a major boost to tourism and sport, new jobs, skills and education opportunities. In addition, there will be new homes to help meet local housing needs, and a range of health and wellbeing benefits.
A new ‘Hulton Trail’ is being proposed as part of this major investment to improve community access.
Peel will be holding consultation events for local residents over the coming months to hear their views and seek feedback on the initial proposals. Residents can keep updated by visiting this website and signing up to the mailing list for regular updates, on our contact page.
Richard Knight, Planning Director at Peel said; “We are very excited to be announcing our proposals for Hulton Park today and look forward to working with local residents and stakeholders to create an enduring legacy for Bolton in which heritage, recreation and sport work together to provide the Park with an exciting future.”
“We are keen to hear the views of local residents and will shortly be hosting a number of consultation events to gather feedback and maximise positive outcomes for the local area, from now, through construction and over the long term after the development has taken place.”
Cllr Cliff Morris, Leader of Bolton Council said, “The proposals being brought forward by Peel would be a significant investment into Bolton with thousands of jobs for local people. The plans also present a fantastic opportunity to discuss possible solutions to some of the challenges facing surrounding communities that we are keen to explore, largely around infrastructure. I believe that it would firmly place Bolton on the map as a destination for sporting excellence and I look forward to seeing how the plans progress.”
